Now You Can Tweet at @yahoo

24 February 2010

A press release from Yahoo! in Sunnyvale, California today announced that the web giant has begun a global partnership with Twitter. Twitter's real-time social networking is now integrated with Yahoo's network to provide access to Twitter feeds at Yahoo! Mail, Sports, Entertainment, Search and other products, allow for Twitter updates, and enable sharing of Yahoo! content to Twitter feeds.

Online marketing campaigns will want to update their search engine optimisation and other strategies to take full advantage of these new networking possibilities. Senior Vice President for Consumer Products at Yahoo! said, We're turning the key to the online social universe – you will find the most personally relevant experiences through Yahoo!

Yahoo's co-founder Biz Stone said, The information in one single tweet can travel light-years farther with this Yahoo! integration. Tweets in more places brings relevance where and when you need it most.

According to Twitter, its posts have risen from 5,000 tweets per day in 2007 to 50 million per day. Combine that with the power of 600 million Yahoo! customers and it's easy to see why the partnership was made. It is the logical next step after Yahoo's recent new networking relationship with Facebook.

Any Yahoo! customer can now unify their online activity at Yahoo! by updating multiple social networks simultaneously. Yahoo! described the move as part of its ongoing commitment to be the center of people's online lives.
